Project Overview

Construction of additional sanitary sewer system of the City of Unye, a major city on the cost of Black Sea. As a characteristic of Northern Anatolian cities; Unye is formed on the skirts of high mountains.Project consisted of two phases: First was the construction of the main collector line on the coastline of Black Sea. That required beachsand excavation with very low shear resistance; problem was overcome by driving sheet piles. Second phase was the additional sewage system for the recently inhabited parts of the city. Moreover, two detention wells were constructed in order to store wastewater before sending to the treatment plant.

Project required kilometers of deep trench excavation (up to 7 meters). Heavy rains boosted this challenge by having a negative effect on the slope stability. mostly, sheet piles were driven before excavation. In some cases, trench wall supporting panels were installed after  excavation in order to provide a safe working environment for the workers.
