BOZCAADA – CANAKKALE, WATER SUPPLY (UNDERWATER PIPELINE) PROJECT

The Island of Bozcaada is located at the gate of Dardanelles in the Aegean Sea, approximately 6 kilometers away from the Turkish mainland. Recently, fresh water supplies on the island proved inadequate; failing to satisfy the demands of
the growing population. Demanded fresh water was delivered from mainland by an underwater pipeline.

We utilized a suction dredge, a ship-mounted clamshell and a barge-mounted backhoe (in case of a hard material, close to shore) for excavating and backfilling. After burying the pipes underwater, concrete bags were submerged and laid on top of the pipe path.
